Hi I'm Andrew.

In December 2017 I accepted voluntary redundancy from my job of 23 years. I'm now a house-husband, helping Annette grow her business, and preparing to buy and fit out a van so we can take our kids out of school for a year and tour the world.

In 2003 I met Andrew and on our first date he told me of his plan to take his future wife and kids round the world in a van. Safe to say that settled the deal for me. I will be the one photographing every step of the way, as well as being my son Tom's producer, director and camera lady :)

I'm eight, nearly nine, and in 18 months I'll be leaving Scotland for a year on our round-the-world tour. You can see more of me on my Youtube Channel, "Tom in Edinburgh"

Hi, I'm Oscar.

I'm five and next year I'll go all round the world with my mummy and daddy, just like the Go-Jetters on TV !

- Our Route -

The route is still up for debate.

Our current plan is to leave Edinburgh for Ireland, then travel through England and onto continental Europe via "the chunnel". From there we'll zig-zig across Europe for a while before heading east and following the sunrises as long as there are roads. We'll then pack the van onto a container ship, bound for Panama, while we take a plane and hire a van in New Zealand and Australia. Then fly to Panama, pickup our van, and tour the Americas before heading back home via Scandanavia.

We're travelling with kids, and not stupid, so we will be avoiding war-zones and obvious trouble spots on this tour. But as we discovered when we were locked-down in Paris in November 2015 and watched the news from London in 2017, nowhere is ever 100% safe. But if you're constantly scared about things like that you'd never get out of bed in the morning. So, we'll be getting out there, whilst being careful, very careful, experiencing life all over the world.

- Our Van -

We're still looking for a van.

We're looking for the tallest and longest Luton/Box van we can find, which we can then build out into a camper van. Andrew thinks a 7.5 tonne truck would be better but Annette suspects that's just because he's a hoarder and she thinks a 3.5 tonne van would be just fine.

But as Annette will be driving, while Andrew home-schools the kids in the back, she'll definitely have the final say!
